A nice 1940s edition of Jane Eyre, Charlotte Bronte's most well-known work and arguably the most famous of the Bronte sisters' novels. Jane Eyre is a classic piece of literature, combining gothic tropes with timeless coming-of-age themes and vital commentary on class and gender politics. This edition is hard to find with an original dust jacket, which this copy has retained. In very good condition with very gentle creasing to the spine ends and bumping to the corners. The block edge is also slightly foxed. The dust jacket is creased and has some small tears in places, with a moderate chip to the spine head. Bound in brown mottled faux-leather cloth and covered with an illustrated cream paper jacket. Accompanied by a frontispiece portrait of the author. 476pg. 19 x 12 cm.
