Gieves Ltd white tie shirt collar size 16

Formal flat fronted curved bibbed cotton shirt by Gieves Ltd of Saville Row. Dating to the 1950s/60s This is a regular cut dress shirt with a 16 inch collar and an actual chest measurement under the arms of 117 cm / 46 inches. This shirt has a plain single cuff with buttonholes for cufflinks; long tails and opens to the bottom. A strap under the bib allows the shirt to be buttoned to the waistcoat to prevent riding up. A tie retainer on the back yoke sits under the recessed stud pocket which allows the back collar stud to be held away from the skin. Two shirt studs have been supplied to the shirt. Condition report: A single fault - there is a small darned hole to the right of the bib, see image 11. Not visible if worn with a dress waistcoat. Freshly laundered and ironed Gieves Ltd was established in the 18th Century. Acquired Hawkes in 1974, so this shirt predates that.
