Since the 1980s, photographer Takashi Niimasu has traced the footsteps of Japanese people through long-term photographic investigations. His works include "Distant Homeland," portraits of first-generation Brazilian immigrants, and "Silent Earth/Siberia," documenting the remains of former Soviet prisoner-of-war camps. This book represents the culmination of his work, visiting the sites of wartime Japanese American internment camps across the United States and capturing the final years of the first and second generations who experienced them.

The book features the landscapes of the desert, such as Manzanar and Topaz, along with the remnants that still remain. It also presents the gazes of people approaching their hundredth birthdays. From the works meticulously captured with a large-format camera, a sense of something difficult to convey with words emanates.
